Core Values
Since our beginning, the Fort Bluff Camp family has encouraged all who step foot on this property to pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Gospel is central in our ministry, and the Word of God is our foundation. Our focus is on these three core values:
- Atmosphere – we endeavor to create an atmosphere at camp that is devoid of distractions from the world. Fort Bluff Camp is a refuge to get “unplugged” and to draw closer to Christ.
- Hospitality – we endeavor to honor our guests and to exceed their expectations while we serve “the least of these” as if we are serving Christ, Himself.
- Excellence – we endeavor as a staff team to continually improve our service, programs, and events as we do “all things for the glory of God.”
Statement of Faith
The Scriptures
We believe the Old and New Testament Scriptures are verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writings. We believe the Scriptures are pure and preserved to every generation and that they are the final authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16, Psalm 12:6-7)
The Godhead
We believe in the eternal triune God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. (Deuteronomy 6:4, II Corinthians 13:14, Ephesians 4:4-6)
God the Son
We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His finished work on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-4, 29, Acts 1:11, Romans 8:34, II Corinthians 5:10, Ephesians 1:7, Titus 3:4-7)
God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the person who reproves the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11, I Corinthians 12:12-14, Romans 8:9, Ephesians 1:13-14)
Man
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin mankind fell and inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, and of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:22-23, Ephesians 2:1-3, 12). The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image and is mindful of him, and in that Christ died for man; therefore every individual possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. (Psalm 8:4-9, Colossians 3:9-11)
The Way of Salvation
We believe that all men are lost and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation and that salvation is found in “repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21). We believe that salvation is by grace alone and that men are justified by faith and are accounted righteous before God through the merit of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe that God will reward the righteous with eternal life with Him in heaven and the unrighteous with everlasting punishment in the lake of fire. We therefore believe in the ministry of evangelism and discipleship. (Luke 24:46-47, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23, Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7, Romans 8:38-39, Matthew 25:46, Revelation 20:15)
The Family
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-24, Matthew 19:4-6). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31, Luke 6:31)
